Maintenance is necessary to keep your HVAC system running optimally and efficiently year after year. Regular routine maintenance has proven to prevent breakdowns during the peak demand seasons when contractors are extremely busy. If your HVAC System is maintained properly, you will save money due to the energy savings associated with regular routine maintenance. Other advantages of routine maintenance includes less wear and tear on the HVAC System, giving the certified technician the ability to identify problems or potential problems that could cause catastrophic problems in the future, and, maintaining a working relationship with Morris Heat and Air. On systems that qualify, Morris Heat and Air offers labor warranty coverage in the event of a part failure. Our philosophy is to ensure that the systems we are installing for our customers are of the best quality for the application and are durable and reliable. Because of this philosophy, we stand behind our recommended systems 100% with a labor warranty as long as we are able to service the system twice a year from installation on. If we service your unit twice a year from installation, we believe your unit will not break down and if it does we will fix it for free. That’s our Lifetime Labor Warranty Guarantee. The manufacturer covers parts warranties for 2-12 years and we provide labor if we service the unit. Aside from the peace of mind you will have knowing you will not incur any costs outside of installation and maintenance, you will be following the manufacturer’s recommendation to service the system installed twice a year as well.
For those that have modular homes and mobile homes, Coleman states in their installation instructions
“It is important to service your furnace. If the unit gives any indication of
improper operation, call your authorized service technician. If a service
technician performs routine care of your furnace, they can identify
potential problems and correct them. Preventive maintenance allows
you to operate your furnace with minimum concern and helps to prolong
furnace life.”
Even Goodman and Daikin Manufacturing Companies recommend regular maintenance in their installation instructions. For their furnaces they state:
“The furnace should be inspected by a qualified installer, or service agency at least once per year. This check should be performed at the beginning of the heating season. This will ensure
that all furnace components are in proper working order and that
the heating system functions appropriately”
For their Air Conditioners they also state:
“Air must be able to flow through the outdoor unit of your
comfort system. Do not construct a fence near the unit or
build a deck or patio over the unit without first discussing
your plans with your dealer or other qualified servicer.
Restricted airflow could lead to poor operation and/or
severe equipment damage.
Likewise, it is important to keep the outdoor coil clean.
Dirt, leaves, or debris could also restrict the airflow. If
cleaning of the outdoor coil becomes necessary, hire
a qualified servicer. Inexperienced people could easily
puncture the tubing in the coil. Even a small hole in the
tubing could eventually cause a large loss of refrigerant.
Loss of refrigerant can cause poor operation and/or severe
equipment damage.
Do not use a condensing unit cover to “protect” the outdoor
unit during the winter, unless you first discuss it with your
dealer. Any cover used must include “breathable” fabric to
avoid moisture buildup.”
When it comes to filters, we see homeowners purchasing very expensive filters from box stores that actually restrict air flow due to their high MERV Rating. This is a waste of money and is detrimental to your unit’s performance. We have great filters purchased directly from the manufacturer in Tulsa Oklahoma and can save you money if we know what size to bring before we bring them. Goodman States in their installation instructions:
“An indoor air filter must be used with your comfort system.
A properly maintained filter will keep the indoor coil of
your comfort system clean. A dirty coil could cause poor
operation and/or severe equipment damage.
Your air filter or filters could be located in your furnace, in a
blower unit, or in “filter grilles” in your ceiling or walls. The
installer of your air conditioner or heat pump can tell you
where your filter(s) are, and how to clean or replace them”
We are able to design and install air filtration systems that have a very low static pressure drop. We always want less than .1″ water column static pressure drop across any filter to ensure you have a low static system as described by manufacturer’s. We are able to install filter systems that only require a filter change once a year and we are able to design filter systems where the filters only have to be replaced once every 5 years. Regardless, we have filters and we will choose the best filters for your application.
I hope this helps you to make a decision to carry annual service on your HVAC System. If we service it twice a year we can locate problems before they become catastrophic problems and we can ensure that your unit is working optimally with the proper air filters.
