A service company owned by a Bixby High School alumnus has been awarded the 2016 Angie’s List Super Service Award for Heating, Cooling and Solar Systems.
John Morris is the owner of Okmulgee-based Morris Heat and Air. He graduated from Bixby High School in 1997.
“I’m very excited to have won this award,” said Morris. “Being one of the best service providers in Oklahoma is something that I strive to be, and Angie’s List recognizing this is awesome.”
Angie’s List is an online database that provides consumers with reviews and feedback on service professionals.
Award winners must meet strict eligibility requirements, which include an “A” rating in overall grade, recent grade and review period grade. They must also be in good standing with Angie’s List, pass a background check and abide by operational guidelines.
“Companies that can meet higher demands without missing a beat in their exemplary performance standards truly do stand apart from their peers,” said Angie’s List founder Angie Hicks. “Only a fraction of heating, cooling, home performance and solar companies in Northeast Oklahoma were able to do it.”
Morris opened his business in 2008 after years of experience in the HVAC field and completing a heating and air conditioning program at Tulsa Technology Center.
A self-described perfectionist, Morris said he is incredibly thorough on every job he works.
“It doesn’t matter what I do, I’m going to try to be the best at it because that’s my nature,” he said. “We get things done and we do it very well.”
Morris currently has 8-10 part-time employees that he uses on an as-needed basis. He uses his own energy-efficient home as a training ground for providing clients with optimal solutions.
“I want to focus more on home performance,” he said. “I like educating (customers) on what we do and ways they can make their home more energy-efficient and more comfortable and improve the quality of their home.”
He said that some jobs take longer than others because they want to ensure that all problems have been properly addressed.
“There have been times where we’re on one house for a week and a half, but if I do that project, I will never have to go back to that house for a detrimental breakdown again,” he said.
Morris is a member of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, an organization that sets the highest standards of practice in the heating and air-conditioning industry.
